Salt shakers?

My parents just bought new salt and pepper shakers. Our old ones, which went
with our old dishes, were broken, and just overall needed replacing.

The new ones are nice. They're stainless steel, guaranteed not to break, and
they feel nice to pick up and use. There's one problem with them, however.
On their own they don't stand up very well. Our last salt and pepper shaker
were self-sufficient. They had a large round base and could stand
independently. These ones have trouble on their own.

This is like us. Independently, we can manage, sort of, but together we're
much better. In His Wisdom God has placed us in families, He's given us
friends. And He's given us the local church. Why? Because He knew if we were
on our own, we'd eventually fall over; just like our salt shaker. Unlike our
salt shaker however, we can break.

So let's thank Him for our families and friends, and church.  And, let's
thank God for not leaving us to fall over! (The LORD makes firm the steps of
the one who delights in Him;  though he may stumble, he will not fall, for
the LORD upholds him with his hand.)
